A Walk to Freedom – this Week at MaestroConference
MaestroConference is helping to prepare for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Freedom Walk. Detroit Branch NAACP President Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony and UAW Vice President Jimmy Settles Jr. are offering a social conferencing event for religious leaders to prepare for this celebration. On Saturday, June 22 at 9 AM, thousands are being asked to Take a Step in the 50th Anniversary Commemorative March in honor of the original Walk to Freedom led by Dr. King on June 23, 1963. On that day 50 years ago, Dr. King delivered an early rendition of his memorable ‘I Have a Dream’ speech. King told tens of thousands of people that it was time for our nation and society in general to get serious about providing opportunities and parity in employment, education, housing and the overall quality of life for persons of color.
